Ανέβασα τη φωτογραφία στο Google+ και ο Στράτος ζήτησε τη συνταγή. Δηλαδή με απείλησε ότι θα του έρθει ντουβρουτζάς μόνο από τη φωτογραφία οπότε καλά θα κάνω να δώσω και τη συνταγή. Εντάξει. Όλα για τους φίλους.

Σου στέλνω τη φωτογραφία μόνο και μόνο για να υπάρχουν στην ιστορία πειστήριο ότι όντως, εγώ, η ακαμάτρα κόρη, έφτιαξα κάποτε ροξάκια!
Η φωτογραφία δεν είναι καλή, δε θα πω όμως το ίδιο για τα ροξάκια που είναι πεντανόστιμα!

Έχετε ποτέ ξυπνήσει μια ωραία πρωϊα με τους σιελογόνους αδένες σας σε υπερδιέγερση να φωνάζουν με αγωνία κάτι; Τι λέω, φυσικά και το χετε πάθει. Ε εγώ σήμερα ξύπνησα με τη λέξη «Μπέϊκον» να πάλλεται με χρυσά γράμματα σε ένα μαύρο φόντο μέσα στο μυαλό μου. Ναι αλλά δεν έχω μπέϊκον σπίτι. Οπότε τι κάνουμε; Ε θα φτιάξουμε! Ναι, δεν είναι δύσκολο (τουλάχιστον το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της διαδικασίας). Ξεκινάμε;
Cleaning
Now that we know all about cross contamination, it is about time to explore the second magic C that stands for Cleaning. Maintaining a clean kitchen is very important. While this is not a big secret really, not everybody would agree with the same definition of a “clean kitchen”?
Αφού έχουμε εξηγήσει τα πέρι επιμόλυνσης ας δούμε τώρα τι σημαίνει το Κ στο ακρωνύμιο μας (e-ΚΨΜ).
Είναι πολύ σημαντικό να διατηρούμε την κουζίνα καθαρή αλλά αυτό δεν είναι δα και κρατικό μυστικό, το ξέρουμε ήδη (για κρατικά μυστικά που έχουν διαρρεύσει στο Wikileaks :P). Τι εννοούμε όμως όταν λέμε “καθαριότητα στην κουζίνα”;
Here I am with the first ever Digital Scullery video in English. Cheers to all the friends of the Greek blog for the idea, by the way if people hate the video I’m blaming you 😉
I honestly thought about doing the Greek accent but I sound so fake that I just stuck to my own. So no funnies there I think. Anyway.
In this first ever Digital Scullery video in English the only classic recipe from modern Greece I could think of was the Frappé coffee – beloved in Greece. The actual phrase «drinking Frappé » in Greek has become sort of like a cultural symbol. Depending on the context it could mean that you’re just chilling or – in some cases – that you are just lazying about.
Roxakia are a Greek type of sweet dough. I hope it’s mainly Greek but you never know. Anyway. They are bite sized cocoa and vanilla and cinnamon goodies that look lovely and taste like heaven. Avoid if syrupy stuff is not your cup of tea, but you will love them if you like any of the syrupy Greek, Turkish and Arabian goodies.
So. Friends of the Greek blog LOVE this dessert and have been asking me to do a video for absolute ages. I got around to it over the weekend (you can watch the video here – it’s in Greek obviously but you’ll see the technique I am describing below) and I managed to take some pics for the English side too.

Αυτό το Σαββατοκύριακο όμως ήμουν οργανωμένη. Είχα αγοράσει τα σωστά υλικά, είχα το χρόνο, είχα την κάμερα, είχα το τρίποδο, γενικά το καλό σύμπαν συνομώτησε για να φτιάξω ροξάκια, να τα καταβροχθίσω (καλά όχι και όλα) και να μείνετε εσείς με το βίντεο. Από το τίποτα όμως…
For about two seasons now I have been watching Lorraine Pascale and her BBC programmes. Baking Made Easy and Home Cooking Made Easy.
Lorraine is an ex model and after a few jobs here and there she got busy, went to some seminars, studied and today she is a chef. Her first programme was mainly about baking, particularly desserts and pastry. Her second programme is all about food in general.
Εδώ και περίπου δύο σεζόν στη Βρετανία παρακολουθώ μετά μανίας τη Lorraine Pascale και τις εκπομπές της στο BBC. Baking Made Easy και Home Cooking Made Easy.
Η Lorraine είναι πρώην μοντέλο που μετά από πολύ ψάξιμο σήκωσε τα μανίκια της, έκανε σεμινάρια και σπουδές και σήμερα είναι σεφ. Στην πρώτη της εκπομπή μιλούσε κυρίως για ψήσιμο στο φούρνο με έμφαση στα γλυκά και τις ζύμες ενώ στην πιο πρόσφατη εκπομπή έχει πιάσει το φαγητό.
It seems that the Dukan diet is sweeping the whole world , not just the nation (please get the media to stop with Carole Middleton and how she got her figure!). It does have some weird and interesting recipes (mainly with oat bran admittedly) and I mentioned that I wanted to make the muffins on our Facebook page. However, the Greek friends on there shouted out in despair about the galette. It seems people find it impossible!
All the chums on facebook (and twitter) are saying that this galette comes out horrible, gets stuck, it’s really hard. So, did my research and here I am with my photos.
Φαίνεται ότι έχει πέσει ένας πανικός με τη δίαιτα Dukan, όχι μόνο εδώ στη Βρετανία (μας έχουν πρήξει με τα πόσα κιλά έχασε η μαμά της Αικατερίνης – καλέ της καινούριας πριγκηποπούλας!) αλλά και στην Ελλάδα. Σκέφτηκα να σας φτιάξω κάτι διαφορετικό – π.χ. έχει μια πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα συνταγή για muffins αλλά στη σελίδα μας στο facebook μόλις το πρότεινα έπεσε κραυγή αγωνίας για τη γαλέτα. Μιλάμε έχετε μεγάλο πόνο.
Από ότι μαθαίνω λοιπόν από τους φίλους στο facebook (και στο twitter) ετούτη η γαλέττα σας βγαίνει τα χάλια της, σας κολλάει, σας παιδεύει. Ήρθα με την έρευνα μου και τις φωτογραφίες μου.
Dear children, I know I’ve been truant and do not write often, but I’m back now that the temperature will drop and it is again time for meats, sausages, etc.
Today’s culinary hell, takes us to the much berated US of A, and its capitalist burgers. Most people love a burger, but unfortunately it’s irrevocably connected in their mind with the disgusting plastic versions in the fast food joints or even the less disgusting plastic versions of more upmarket burger places. For the latter I will admit that they serve burgers more reminiscent of normal meat than the type served in the haunts of alienated youths the world over.
Αγαπητά μου παιδιά, ξέρω είμαι κοπανατζής και δε γράφω συχνά, αλλά τώρα που θα πέσει η θερμοκρασία και θα είναι πάλι καιρός για παστά, λουκάνικα κλπ θα επανέλθω.
Η σημερινή μας γαστριμαργική κόλαση, μας πάει μια βόλτα στην μισητή για πολλούς Αμερική, και τα άκρως καπιταλιστικά μπέργκερ της. Αναγνωρίζω ότι αν ήμουν γραμμένος σε συγκεκριμένες νεολαίες αυτή η συνταγή ίσως να αποτελούσε αφορμή για ατιμωτική διαγραφή και ίσως ομαδικό φατούρο με διπλωμένα τεύχη εφημερίδας, αλλά δεν είμαι οπότε…
